Battery-Led Services Across the Asset Lifecycle

Our trained technicians support critical assets across their service life, through our in-house DC power experience and our vendor partners. Batteries first, the power systems around them second, and the logistics and verification that get them safely into service.

01 — Core Capability

Battery Systems and Lifecycle

Batteries are the single most common cause of critical power failure and the least visible asset on site. We treat them as the primary asset, not a consumable bolted onto a UPS.

We install, test, trend and replace battery systems across lead-acid, lithium and nickel-cadmium chemistries, at every capacity range from a single string to a multi-cabinet bank.

What this covers

  • Battery installation, bank construction and torque-verified terminations
  • Impedance and conductance testing with trended history
  • Discharge and capacity testing to prove real autonomy, not nameplate
  • Condition-based replacement planning and capital budgeting
  • Cabinet, rack and containerised battery deployments
  • EPA compliant collection, transport and recycling of end-of-life batteries

Why condition, not calendar

A five-year replacement cycle either throws away good batteries or leaves bad ones in service. Neither is acceptable in a critical environment.

  • Test data tells you which strings are actually degrading
  • Spend goes to the sites carrying the real risk
  • Replacements are planned, not emergencies
  • Every decision is evidenced in your reporting
02 — Core Capability

Battery Monitoring and Reporting

Continuous monitoring of string voltage, cell condition, current and temperature, delivered over secure connectivity to sites anywhere in the country, with alarms that reach a human.

Monitoring data flows into monthly battery condition reporting through PowerShield Assure. Onsite service activity is reported separately through ProReports™, our onsite reporting platform.

How battery monitoring works

Included with monitored sites

  • String, cell and temperature trending
  • Alarm notification and triage
  • Monthly condition and exception reporting via PowerShield Assure
  • Multi-site fleet view across your estate
  • Predictive replacement forecasting
03 — Core Capability

UPS and DC Power

Licensed installation, installation verification, maintenance and modernisation of UPS and DC rectifier systems, delivered by technicians who work inside live environments as a matter of routine.

Our technicians are factory trained across multiple leading OEM products, so we can support your critical assets across their full service life.

What this covers

  • UPS installation, start-up and functional testing
  • Preventive maintenance and fault response
  • Controlled changeovers and load transfers on live systems
  • DC rectifier systems at all voltages, distribution and reticulation
  • Switchroom and switchboard installation verification support
  • End-of-life modernisation and replacement planning

Capacity positioning

We self-deliver full lifecycle services at smaller system sizes and operate in a vendor-aligned support role on large, high-capacity systems, where OEM parts and tooling drive recovery times.

04 — Core Capability

Installation Verification and Functional Testing

Controlled technical works inside live environments, plus offsite test locations where equipment is proven in a controlled environment before it reaches the customer's site.

What this covers

  • Site Acceptance Testing, start-up and functional testing
  • Level 2 to Level 4 testing support for vendors at offsite test locations
  • Load bank testing and capacity verification
  • Independent verification testing
  • Documented test sheets and procedures aligned to AS/NZS 3000 and AS 5139

Offsite test locations

Testing levels

  • L1 Factory acceptance at the manufacturer
  • L2–L3 Component and system checks at the test location
  • L4 Functional performance testing, repeated on the installed system
  • L5 Whole-of-system checks led by the project team on site

Where GWT Critical Projects holds the DC power installation scope, it supports the vendor through the Level 4 checks on the installed system, under its own contract on the project site.

05 — Core Capability

Critical Environment Logistics

Specialised freight and asset movement for batteries, UPS and sensitive equipment. The same crew receives the equipment, positions it, installs it and tests it, so nothing is lost in a handover between contractors.

What this covers

  • Specialised and heavy freight, including battery consignments
  • Compliant transport of batteries
  • Receipt, inspection, staging and secure storage
  • Asset positioning, lift and shift, and equipment relocation
  • Free-issue equipment handling with chain-of-custody records
  • Multi-site rollout staging and coordination

One crew, end to end

Splitting freight, installation and functional testing across three suppliers is where damage, delay and blame live. We take the whole movement.

06 — Core Capability

Maintenance and Service Contracts

Structured preventive maintenance and response, built around uptime and measurable response commitments rather than visit frequency alone.

Contracts are offered at two levels, Basic and Comprehensive, and can be delivered entirely under your brand.

Service contract options

Every contract includes

  • Maintained asset register
  • Site asset tree: your associated assets and how they relate to each other
  • Lifecycle forecasting, so replacements are planned rather than reactive
  • ProReports™ white-label documentation
  • ISO certified execution
  • Critical Environment Technician delivery
